Owner Brian Friesen and Employee Kevin Linge
A Family Business
Brian Friesen founded American Pride Asphalt Service Company with the intention of creating a business that could stay in his family. A dedicated husband and father of 13, Brian has worked for 20 years with a public transit agency and in 2020 he decided he wanted to start a business of his own.
The first acquisitions of the business were a small trailer for $300, a large utility truck gifted by a church family, and a striper. He then rented a single stall storage unit for paint and basic equipment. Shortly thereafter, a seal coating tanker truck was acquired, making it necessary to move all the equipment into a larger facility.

A few of Brian’s sons worked alongside him learning the trade together. Then, with some hired help from Kevin Linge, he learned how to repair asphalt, and completed a variety of commercial and residential work. Kevin joined American Pride Asphalt Service Company in August of the first season at the end of summer 2021. He brought with him invaluable years of experience with seal coat and asphalt work.

Growing Pains
The following season, the business continued to grow and began implementing more commercial work through servicing apartment complexes and business fronts. In 2023, the business turned a profit for the first time. Difficulties and equipment setbacks have been experienced in each season, but Brian considers it worth the struggle for the pursuit of turning a dream into a reality.

Expanding the Team
At the end of the 2023 season, Mike Madden joined the team. Mike is a man of integrity who has an uncommon skill in understanding well and meeting the needs of each client, working to get each job done well. He brought much needed customer relations help and energy to the sales side of the business. Because of Kevin and Mike’s hard work for the company, Brian has been allowed to focus more on the business logistics side, and most importantly he has been able to spend more time with his family.
